RPP 3 Day 13

I dint do much today because i had coding assignment do. Jo finished the model and Utsab got the randomization going. Josh got all the sounds going.

RPP 3 Day 14

A day before presenting. i finally finished the thief  rig and animation. Josh did the ui and Jo made the splash art. Utsab did all the rest with coding and hope the game will be great tomorrow.

RPP 3 Day 12

Today was another work day. Jo was too busy to work today because of 3d but but will give me the Thief model once she is done. I imported all the guard animations to Unity with help of Utsab and Carter. I even was able to add animation blends!

Utsab implement everything and made the thief work and Josh made the level with prefabs.

RPP 3 Day 11

So far today we hashed out couple of game mechanics and figured out what to give to who. Everything was communicated in team, and we figured out what to do for the day. I finished the guard animation. Utsab is working on making the thief AI better. Josh is creating more prefarbs and Jo is finishing the thief model.

We are going to have a stand up meting tomorrow to figure out what to do next.

RPP 3 Day 10

We didn't have an in person meeting and there wasn't a lot of info in the research.  We can add a bit of bust for the thief or the guard according to the mythology of the roman gods but other then that there wasn't anything else.  We will try to make the game a bit more tower defenc-y and less Assassins creed.

Other then that Jo gave me the Guard model and I finished the rig, also added walk and run animation. Next is going to be the idle and point animation.

RPP 3 Day 9

We had a meeting to figure out how to change the story all around. One of Ron's critiques is that the game is not Rom-y enough. So we had to try and figure out how to make the game centered around our environment. I was in charge of the researching technology,  Jo was in charge of people. Utsab was in charge of culture and Josh was in charge of the god and mythology. We will meet tomorrow and see if there is anything we can change.

RPP 3 Day 8

At noon as always we had a daily stand up. Jo started to texture the guard and Utsab has made  the random level generator. So far there are may thing implemented in the game and there is a lot of progress in getting the game finalized.

Today we presented the game to the class and got a lot of feed back. To start Ron wanted us to focus more on the guard getting the thief then the other way around. And he wanted us to have a more Rome centralized game. Because right now the game is not specific to just Rome. We are going to have a meeting tomorrow to discuss the critique.

RPP 3 Day 7

Today marks a fool week of rpp. After the daily meeting we looked at the game so far and it looked so interesting. The guards were randomly generated and would move on their own after the first generation. I am exited to see how it will turn out!

On the artists side, I finished the rig and will give it back to Jo to texture it while I figure out the animations. I dont think we have enough time to implement the animations for this time around but they will definitely be there by the end of the week.

RPP 3 Day 6

We had a daily meeting today and contiued from where we left off. Artsit finaly have enough time to work. Jo made the gard model and i will rig it. Utsab also showed me how to connect to perforce through unity.

RPP 3 Day 5

We had a stand up meeting today. Utsab and Josh were chugging along and made the level and started working with prefabs.
They had a separate meeting when the artist had the industry review and brainstormed a bit more. We will be updated tomorrow.

The industry review is done for artists and we are ready to work!

The programmers and producers were  the best today and brought us all cookies for moral support.

Week 08 Working in a Game Engine With Final Prop

For this week we put the cannon in the engine.

RPP 3 Day 4

Today the asset pack was loaded and put in perforce by Josh. He also started making a simple level in unity.

Utsab did a little more navigational mesh and AI testing.

As for the artist- we are still working on the industry review. We will be ready to work in the RPP full blast after tomorrow!

RPP 3 Day 3

It is the start of our game production. Utsab stared work on some AI tracking and Josh brought the asset pack and started to move things around.

Nothing from artists yet as we are working on the industry review.

RPP 3 Day 2

We randomized the genre and theme and got stealth in ancient Rome. it didn't look like we will have a lot of luck with randomizing the art style too, so we stopped there.

Next we had a brainstorm session at Mario and trough around couple of ideas. One of our main points was trying to innovate the stealth mechanism because  the first thought we had was Assassin's Creed.  For example one of the ideas was to use sound instead of sight for stealth.

Ultimately we inversed the stealth mechanism and made it so the player is trying to find the thief instead of being sneaky. It is going to be interesting to see how this game is going to come along.

RPP 3 Day 1

This is the beginning of our blog for the 3rd week of Rpp. We just found out our teems and for this team it will be me, Joshua Navarro,  Utsab Das and Ziyou Zhou.

We decided to try and get point for the random generated genre and theme.

We have not decided on exactly what kind of game it is going to be. Everything is going to be decided by our genre and theme.

This will conclude the first day of our RPP.

For this week or assignment was to take an existing IP and re-imagine it in our own way. 

I decided to remake "the sleeping hollows" The headless horseman is a teenager and the setting is vaporware. 


3D Class Week 07 Bake Maps and Digital Painting for a Prop

For this week we transitioned to baking and texturing.

I started by sculpting a base in Zbrush






































Unfortunately I wasn't able to combine it in substance because the cannon was already too big, so I will texture it separately.

2D Class Week 06 Basic Lighting

For this week our assignment was to replicate a real life object in Photoshop. 

This is the picture I chose.  



 I started with the body and shaded it.

Than added the details and shadows. 


And finished with the background.


3D Class Week 06 UV and Digital Sculpting for a Prop

It is week 2 of the prop modeling project and this week the assignment was to make low poly model, uv it, sculpt a high poly and decimate it in zbrush

I changed my model from the standard cannon to a personal one and here is my low poly model for it.




Than I tried to uv it however it was almost impossible to uv the whole thing. So I broke it up into 9 pieces and uved them separately in 3d coat.





After that I combined them in maya and tried to lay them out but it turned out to be impossible with the time i had because there were too many sections.

So i just pressed the layout button


After that i made the high poly in zbrush



And finished by decimating it
